WORLDS APART
-
A K/S novel by M. E. Carter
The colonists on Albion IV, both Human and Vulcan, had turned their backs on
technology, and the two groups remained strictly apart. There should never have
been an opportunity for Jim Kirk and Spock to ever meet...

Out of the corner of his eye he could see the Vulcan standing with bowed head,
still as death. "You and I have almost nothing in common, yet for some reason I
feel free to just be myself around you. You could ask me for so much; instead
you haven't asked for anything. Well, there's something I want from you. I'd
like to be your friend, if you'll let me."
Spock looked up then with those terrible empty eyes, and Jim walked over and
stuck out his hand. Belatedly it occurred to him that Vulcans probably did not
share that custom. He smiled a little, but did not withdraw.

One meeting led to another, and to many more, and two young men find their way
to each other despite the prohibitions of their cultures. But forging a future
together means they must face the bigotry of Humans and Vulcans alike - as well
as overcome the violent secrets in Spock's past.
