JUST THE WAY THE STORY GOES by Toni C-P

Lori leaves Kirk when he is unable to stop trying to contact Spock at Gol.

...”Lori.”  Kirk claimed her attention once more, and she looked in his direction.  “It’s because of this, isn’t it?” he said flatly, gesturing to the stargram he held.

Lori looked down at the garment she was folding, then shrugged... “You know,” she began after a short silence, “I can still remember the exact moment I decided I hated Spock.”

SNOWFIRE by Pamela R. and Leslie S.

Kirk and Spock are stranded when their shuttle crashes, and after Spock is injured Kirk is forced to use his body in order to get help, but misunderstandings abound after they are rescued.

...Kirk relaxed gratefully.  “Thank you.  I swear I’ll find a way to pay you.  There are some things I need for my friend, though.  It’s very cold in that room, and it’s important he be kept warm.  And we need some more blankets, food, clean bandages – “

“I’m afraid you misunderstood me,” Brinok cut in with a sly smile.  “I’m willing to provide you shelter... out of the goodness of my heart.  But those other luxuries are your own responsibility.”

“Luxuries!” Kirk exploded.  “The way it is now, that room is only a little better than being outside.  Spock needs – “

“I’m sure there are many things he needs,” Brinok broke him off smoothly.  “Perhaps we can work out an agreement.  Simeon knows my particular tastes, and he knew I would be interested in you.  That’s why he brought you here.  Believe me, he does not make a habit of rescuing people in distress...”

THE FREEDOM WHEN YOU FALL by Annette H.

Spock delivers an ultimatum to his lover when Kirk refuses to bond with him, unaware of the reason behind the human’s reticence.

...Spock walked toward him slowly, mesmerized by a vision of an improbable but suddenly possible future.  He raised a trembling hand and stroked Jim’s cheek.  “I loved you long before you loved me – how could I be other than pleased?  Yet,” he gestured to the office area, “I think we should talk.”

Jim looked at him for a moment, still wrapped in that unusual remoteness, making no attempt to evade those caressing fingers.  Then his eyes focused on Spock, and he smiled.  “No,” he said, sliding his hands up Spock’s legs to his waist and slipping them under the blue cloth to rest on skin.  “No, let’s love instead.”  He offered his mouth, still smiling faintly, and Spock could not resist.

Humor.   Kirk gets upset with Spock for borrowing his porn tapes.

...“Don’t give me that innocent act, Spock,” Kirk warned.  “You’ve got my private tape of “Famous Federation Fucks” and I want it back now!”

Spock resignedly took the tape he had been examining out of the viewer and handed it with reluctance to Kirk.  As an afterthought, he walked over to his bed and produced two more tapes from underneath the mattress, handing these also to an astonished Kirk.

MIRROR IMAGE by Marie A.

Kirk hesitates to help Spock out of prison, upset at him that after being lovers, he could be taken in by the Kirk from this universe.

...The words poured out, like a dam bursting, sending waves of pentup resentment and frustration crashing around them.  “everything was fine between us.  Better than fine.  For the first time in my life something... really mattered.  And I thought you... damn him, damn that parallel universe... he’s poisoned you with all that stupid talk about ‘men of vision’.  I hate him!  I hate him and... and... oh, hell, let go of me!”

With renewed fury, Kirk again pressed and jostled against the alien arms that trapped him.  This time he succeeded, and they tumbled in a heap to the floor, rolling over and over each other.

...“Spock...”

The doctor’s tone was one he assumed when he was about to ask a prying personal question, and Spock mentally braced himself.

“Yes, Doctor?”

“Is there something wrong between you and Jim?”

Spock made certain his face was unreadable.  “Wrong, Doctor?  The Captain appears to be in the best of health, and his behaviour patterns have not changed appreciably in any way.  I fail to see upon what you base this conclusion.”

“I have eyes, don’t I?”

Spock was about to reply to this non sequiter when the communicator beeped for attention.
