Submission Guidelines

Kira's submission guidelines:

Submissions that are accepted include but are not limited to:

ART, STORIES, POETRY, VIGNETTES, DRABBLES and FILKS are most welcome
ESSAYS about K/S or how you became a K/S-er.
CHALLENGES: Writing challenges you would like to see realized can also be submitted to Side By Side.
RECOMMENDATIONS for stories available in printed fanzines and stories that can be found online.
NOTE: for recommendations, please provide information about the fanzine - what zine the story appears in, which publisher and whether it's still available for purchase) and links to stories online. If you can provide a cover image that would be even better. These recs will eventually end up in the K/S Zine Review Site.

Here follows guidelines for submitting your work to Side by Side.

• Submissions may be sent to: blueberrysnail at yahoo.com with the subject header "Side by Side Submission". Please specify what it is so that it doesn't end up in the SPAM folder.

• Stories previously submitted to PRINTED ZINES but never before posted online are MORE THAN WELCOME!

• Every contribution must focus on Spock and/or Kirk. No other pairings are allowed, unless the story ends with a K/S relationship.

• Submissons do not have to be sexual or romantic in nature, but we do so enjoy the boys in a romantic relationship, so of course such stories are very welcome.

• Any rating is fine, and any kind of story within reason.

• Please do NOT submit stories depicting: incest, necrophilia or beastiality. Character Deaths and violence are acceptable, but if you use excessive violence a warning may be in order.
   

• IMPORTANT! No contribution submitted to Side by Side may be posted elsewhere for 2 months. After that any author/artist is free to post their submission anywhere they see fit.

• IMPORTANT! Side by Side stories and art will also be posted to the Side-By-Side emailinglist, on the day of publication. All contributions will be posted to the list by the listmom (or listmom's helper - usually Farfalla the Butterfly-Kitten) when the Side by Side issue goes online.

• STORIES should be spellchecked. Using a beta is good for finding plot-holes, grammar problems, bad characterization and other muck-ups.

• STORIES can be submitted in MS Word, Works, HTML, txt or email format.

• ART should be submitted in jpg format and a maximum of 200 kb per art piece.
   

• Please include the following information with your story.
  TITLE:
  FEEDBACK INFO: email, or other means of contact.
  AUTHOR:
  PAIRING: (if you include more than just K/S, this information is required).
  RATING: From G to NC17.
  SUMMARY: What's the story about?
  DISCLAIMER: Paramount/Viacom, blah blah. No infringement intended, no money being made.
  BETA:
   

• OTHER INFORMATION is voluntary.
  It may consist of warnings such as: Character Death, Violence, Rape/Non Consensual sex,
  OR informative headers such as: AU, BDSM, bondage, Mirror Universe, Humor. Home page URL, Challenge
  OR other interesting tidbits, such as where, why and when you wrote the story.
