"Yes, I saw him earlier," Dax said, smiling enigmatically. "So, what did he say about it?" "That they were... talking," replied Dax thoughtfully. "Oh, come on! Nobody would spend two hours in a holosuite talking with Gul Dukat, of all people. There must be another explanation." "Julian said that Dukat was also showing him some interesting aspects of Cardassian culture, and they just lost track of the time." "Well... that *could* happen, I suppose." "But it doesn't explain why Julian went into holosuite 3 when Dukat was already using it," Dax said. There was an amused inflection in her voice which O'Brien didn't notice. "You're right! And Quark says that Dukat was running a programme which Cardassians often choose when they're in the mood for romance." Dax grinned. "Julian's been working very hard lately. He deserves a little adventure and excitement in his life. He won't come to any harm with Dukat, as long as he doesn't take it too seriously." "Take what too seriously?" Dax smiled. "Gul Dukat can sometimes ask a lot of his... friends." O'Brien frowned. "Well, Julian's *my* friend and I wouldn't want him doing anything stupid. I think we both know what really happened in that holosuite, don't we?" Dax raised an eyebrow and looked innocently across at him. "Do we, Miles?" "Yes, we do! He and Dukat went out on the town, had a few drinks and picked up women. That programme's got some very willing ladies in it, apparently. And Quark says it even includes a hotel; they must have booked themselves rooms and then each taken a woman back. Which would explain why Julian's too embarrassed to tell us what he really got up to that night." Dax giggled. "Oh Chief, you're such an innocent... " "Why on Earth do you say that? I'm no innocent, Dax. I've seen and done a few things, let me tell you." Miles gave her his best 'man of the world' look. "And so has Dukat, which is probably what attracted Julian to him in the first place. I think you'll find that there were two less women and one less hotel room used in that holosuite programme. And what I say is, good for Julian!" O'Brien looked shocked. "Are you seriously implying... no, no way!" Dax chuckled. "I've heard on the grapevine that Dukat has a most extensive collection of sex toys. It's nice to know that Julian would have been well looked after, don't you think?" O'Brien winced. "You are one sick woman, Jadzia. I'll see you later." Dax sighed as she watched him walk away. "That's the worst thing about having a reputation for joking around. Nobody believes you when you're telling the truth..." THE END |
