THINGS PAST

{Du} Author Helen V.

No one understands him, no one ever will,
he tries to explain, but no one ever listens.
Why wont they listen?

The terrible things he did, all those years ago,
he had no choice, he was under orders,
Central Command always watching him!

He must be strong, weakness was not tolerated,
surely they could see, 'the occupation would have
been much worse if it weren`t for him'!

His eyes are open now, he is awake,
all the images in his mind beginning to fade,
he longs to explain to someone, but as always,
there is no one here who will listen.

DAMAR'S DREAMS

Summary: Damar has secret feelings for Gul Dukat; set after 'Return to Grace'. Please note: This is a corrected and revised version of the original poem.

What would he do, if he knew I loved him?
What would he say, if I spoke those forbidden words?
I am a man - his Second. He is a man - My Captain.

Would he turn away, in disgust or disapointment at my admission?
Or would he stay here, with me, on these long nights?

In my secret dreams we are together. I, the younger man, am devoted to him, both in battle and in his bed.

But would he ever know this? Could I ever tell him?
When he looks at me, so intently sometimes, I think I can see a hint of my own lust and desire mirrored in his eyes.

My thoughts of him are endless...
and I know someday, the truth will be revealed; that there is no other for me -- if only in my dreams.
