Lex looked round, realising that he was lost. Lost?! Lex Luthor didn’t get lost. Well, supposedly. Damn, he was really lost. Well, he supposed it served him right for walking without paying attention to where he was going. He looked round for some clue as to where he was, but there was nothing he recognised. Shit!
Maybe he should have paid more attention to what Clark was actually saying when he was telling him about star navigation. Lex snorted, right, like he could have paid attention with the way Clark had been dressed!
He started to walk again, letting himself remember the sight of Clark Kent in ripped jeans and a tank top that had clung to his muscles in a way he had wanted to emulate altogether too much. But damn, he *was* beautiful, Lex could be excused, couldn’t he?
Shit, why were his feet wet? God damn it! Lex really needed to focus. Only thinking about Clark could make *him* walk into the lake. The lake! Well, at least he knew where he was now. Lex shook his head at himself, who’d have thought that *he* could be so hopeless in love. Lack of experience maybe. Love hadn’t exactly been a plentiful commodity in his life, after all.
And, oh God. The embodiment of one of his worst nightmares, brought him up short. Clark and Chloe… kissing. He slipped further into the bushes near them, cursing the fact that he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off them. Chloe had her hands on Clark’s face, their eyes were closed, Clark’s hands were… gripping the ground? Interesting.
Lex looked closer and he could actually see the tension in Clark’s back, even in the dim light of the moon and stars. Chloe pulled back.
“You know, Clark, it’s more fun when the two people taking part, actually… take part,” Chloe snapped.
Clark almost curled in on himself. “I’m sorry, Chloe, I just, I can’t stop thinking about…”
“No, wait let me guess, who could Clark be thinking about?” Chloe’s sarcastic tone made even Lex shiver and Clark withdrew a little more. Lex assumed she meant Lana. He could at least be sympathetic there. “Lex, by any small chance?”
What?! Lex blinked in shock, especially when Clark nodded. “I can’t help it, I’m sorry, Chloe.”
“Flattering stuff there, Clark,” Chloe sighed and sat back.
Clark started to stand, “I shouldn’t have come here.”
“Clark,” Chloe stopped him, her tone resigned, “You know he likes you.”
“Really?” Clark flopped back onto the ground.
“God, yeah, it’s so obvious.”
Lex stiffened. He was obvious?! Crap!
“But I…” Clark started, “I don’t want…”
Clark didn’t want… him. Lex tried not to laugh at himself, for getting his hopes up for a second, at the way his chest seemed to have constricted enough that he was finding it hard to breathe. Hurriedly, he walked away, almost forgetting to be quiet. He almost didn’t care.
Following the river, Lex walked towards his property until he just couldn’t be bothered any more. He didn’t really feel like facing anyone, even servants, at that moment.
Lex sat down at the edge of the river. His feet were already wet, so he took his shoes and socks off, rolling up his pant legs so he could dangle his feet in the river. He sighed in relief at the cool water.
He’d always known his feelings were and would be unrequited, but who would have thought actually hearing it could hurt so much. He did laugh this time, and winced at the bitterness. His father was obviously right, nobody could love him. Least of all someone like Clark. God, what had he been thinking?
It was just such an unfamiliar feeling to like someone so much. So strange to spend so much time with someone who couldn’t do anything for him… well in the usual sense anyway, obviously Lex had been attracted to him from the beginning. He just hadn’t realised how far it was going to go, how far it had gone, until it was too late to do anything about it. And he *had* tried.
It wasn’t as if he wanted to lose the only true friendship he’d had since he was a child. Chloe’s words came back to him and Lex sighed, had he really been obvious? That didn’t bode well for his friendship.
Lex considered seeing if his father’s offer still stood. A little too much like running away, which didn’t sit well with him, but he really didn’t think he’d survive out and out heart break.
Tugging off his shirt, Lex debated what his options were. It didn’t really seem to matter, he couldn’t decide what to do. For the first time he could remember, Lex didn’t know what to do. It was more than a little disconcerting. And on top of it all, he was just thinking about Clark, hoping that his friend wasn’t hurting over this.
Almost without thought, his hand moved to his groin. None of this had seemed to affect his constant, aching desire for Clark, the tug of need that seemed to join his heart to his dick. The sight of Clark kissing Chloe, he couldn’t quite help imagining that it was him instead of the little blonde.
How teenaged of him. Shaking slightly with repressed laughter, and possibly tears, Lex stood up and stripped off. If he was going to indulge himself, he might as well do it in the cool water.

“But I…” Clark started, “I don’t want…” He sighed and stopped. Chloe rolled her eyes at him.
“You don’t want him too? Pull the other one, Clark, it’s got bells on it,” Chloe snapped.
Clark’s eyes widened, “You knew? But how? I mean why… tonight…”
Chloe sighed, “Yeah I knew, it doesn’t mean I can’t hope, does it?”
“I just don’t think I can risk it, Chloe, I don’t want to lose his friendship,” Clark winced at her pained expression. It was unfair of him to talk to her about this, but he needed to talk to someone. Pete would be disgusted, his parents… Clark almost laughed at the thought of asking his father about Lex. And Lex was the only other person he talked to about his problems.
“Well, then I guess you’ll never know for sure, will you? Faint heart never won fair… well, you know what I mean,” Chloe laughed, only a little bitterly. “You better do something, because my Dad said his father still wants him back in Metropolis.”
Clark swallowed and looked away. The thought of Lex leaving was too painful.
“Listen, I’m going to go, Clark, why don’t you think about what you want.”
“Okay,” Clark looked up again and smiled apologetically, “Chloe, I’m sorry.”
“I know, Clark.”
Clark didn’t watch her leave, he stripped off his shirt and boots and socks, diving into the lake without thought. It was cool and refreshed his mind as well as his body.
He knew what he wanted… he wanted Lex. Hell, he was in love with Lex. It hadn’t stopped him from trying to deny it. Clark just wanted to be normal, or as normal as he could be.
The other thing was, that Lex was *Lex*, what could he possibly want with someone like Clark? Despite the looks, despite that Chloe said it was obvious he liked him, Clark just wasn’t sure, hadn’t wanted to risk losing Lex as a friend.
With a sigh, Clark swam back to the edge and dragged himself out. He stuffed his socks in his boots and tied them together with the laces, slinging them over his shoulder and tucked his shirt into his back pocket.
He debated going home, but decided to walk to Lex’s. Chloe was right, he’d never know if he didn’t say anything, and what if Lex did leave?

Clark walked fairly slowly, obviously being barefoot didn’t bother him. He wanted to think about what he was going to say to Lex. After all he couldn’t just blurt it out, could he?
A strange noise from the river made him pause and he turned, heading into the trees that lined the bank. He pushed aside a branch and froze. His heart skipped several beats and his pants strained ominously against his sudden and instantaneous erection.
Lex was… Jesus God, Lex was *naked*, kneeling in the shallow stream of water by the bank. His skin glowed slightly in the moonlight. Clark swallowed hard as he watched one hand trail over the firm chest, pinching lightly at tight nipples.
Clark’s breath hitched at the tiny moan Lex made and dropped his eyes a little further, to where Lex’s other hand was wrapped round his long, slim cock, pumping hard.
It was too much, the branch shattered in his hand and Lex stared up at him in horror.
Oh my God! Lex gasped. Already almost too far gone in imagining Clark in various states of undress on the way to a good fucking, the sight of his best friend, dripping wet, dressed only in tight, tight, *wet* jeans, of Clark staring at him, mouth open, breath coming in short pants; was too much. Lex shuddered, gripping his cock viciously hard as he pumped one last time.
“Clark,” he cried out as he came jerkily.
Clark swallowed again and his knees gave way. He wanted to crawl over and lick Lex clean, he wanted to rip his pants open and jerk off, he wanted… God, he wanted *Lex*. Going with his first instinct, Clark managed to get his limbs to comply enough to move, after all the motivation was touching Lex!
Lex had shut his eyes after he came, not wanting to see the horror on his friend’s face. But at the first tentative touch, he opened them again. “Clark?”
Clark smiled shyly, hopefully and leaned forward. He put his hands on Lex’s hips and bent his head to taste Lex’s skin. Lex moaned quietly, back arching up into the wet caress.
Clark sighed at the tacit approval in the gesture and licked harder, moving down to catch a taste of the come glistening on his belly. Lex tasted so good, Clark pulled back when he felt the fabric of his jeans starting to give way.
“Lex,” he whimpered, tugging at his fly ineffectively.
“Oh God,” Lex groaned and tried to make his hands stop trembling long enough to help the younger boy open his jeans. Once he’d got them open, Clark tugged them down along with his boxers, the relief enough to make him forget about being embarrassed.
Lex groaned again and pushed Clark back. Clark yelped, losing his balance and falling on his ass. He was about to say something reproachful, but the sight of Lex’s head descending into his lap scrambled something in his brain. All he came out with was ‘guh’.
Lex couldn’t help smirking, but only momentarily, the sight of Clark so painfully aroused was more gorgeous than he could ever have imagined, and he knew that he had to taste his young friend. Burying his face in Clark’s groin, Lex inhaled deeply and mouthed at the dark hair surrounding heavy balls.
“Lex!” Clark gasped, straining not to grab hold of the bald head and force him down on his cock. Lex took the hint and licked a hot stripe up the length of his shaft. Clark’s cock jumped, sending a twitch of painful pleasure through his groin. “Lex, please.”
Lex groaned at the pleading note and quickly engulfed his friend’s straining length. The heavy erection filled his mouth and he swallowed hard, working it as deep as he could with the awkward angle, tongue moving agilely around the head.
Oh. My. God! Clark screamed silently, reaching out to clutch carefully, or as carefully as he could manage, at Lex’s head, trying to control his desire to let go completely and fuck Lex’s mouth. He wanted to, so bad, but he wasn’t going to hurt Lex, no matter what.
Lex frowned as he felt the tension in the muscles under his hands. Looking up he saw Clark’s face was screwed up with concentration, mouth tight with tension, and his friend’s earlier words slammed through his head. He didn’t want… Lex pulled away with a strangled sob.
“Why?” he whispered.
Clark shuddered at the loss of warm, wet suction and stared up at Lex in confusion. “Wha?”
“Why are you doing this, Clark?” Lex wrapped his arms round his chest. Maybe seeing Lex jerking off had made Clark horny, but he was damned if he was going to let even his best friend use him.
Clark felt his shoulders hunching over and he scrambled backwards, trying to cover himself up. “I thought, oh God…” Lex hadn’t been thinking about *him*, it was just the shock of seeing him that had made Lex cry out his name. “I thought you wanted me too,” he whispered, heart constricting painfully before he leapt to his feet and ran.
Lex blinked and bowed his head in defeat. Well done Alexander. He’d blown it. He didn’t even care that Clark had literally just vanished in front of his eyes, the only thing that mattered was the heart broken sadness and fear that had been visible in the deep green of Clark’s eyes before he’d run.
Slowly, Lex got dressed, shuddering slightly at the clamminess of his clothing. What was he going to do now? He definitely couldn’t run, but could he go to Clark? At least now he knew… ‘I thought you wanted me too’… Clark wanted him.
The question was, would Clark let him explain? His best friend had just suffered what he thought was a cruel rejection. Lex had been there, it wasn’t something you wanted to confront immediately. But Lex wasn’t one to back down and in some ways, he didn’t want Clark to have time to recover from being upset. If Clark still felt vulnerable, he’d be more open to listening… hopefully.
Lex walked fast through the field that led to the Kent farm and bypassed the house, heading straight for the barn, almost certain that Clark would have retreated to his loft.
The sight that greeted him was more than enough to make him forget composure and he hurried over to sit next to the hunched, utterly miserable looking form of his best friend and wrap his arms round him.
“Lex?” Clark whispered in confusion.
“I’m sorry,” Lex whispered. “I do.”
“You do… what?” Clark asked cautiously, trying not to let himself hope.
Lex sighed. He’d been determined to be cool, in control, but something about Clark always turned his emotions on their head. “I do want you too. I thought… well, I thought you didn’t.”
“You thought…” Clark frowned in confusion. “I licked your come off your stomach, and you thought I *didn’t* want you?!”
Lex flushed, and blinked at the unfamiliar heat. “Well… yes. I mean I overheard you talking to Chloe before and you said you didn’t want me.”
Clark frowned, trying to remember what he’d said to Chloe. “No, I didn’t. I said I didn’t want and then I stopped. And Chloe called me on my blatant lie.”
“She’s a very good friend,” Lex said quietly, “Remind me to do something for her.”
Clark shook his head with a tiny smile, “Lex?”
“Yeah?” Lex waited expectantly.
“Can we, uh, can we start over?” Clark asked hesitantly.
With a tiny smile of his own, Lex nodded, “Yeah, I’d like that, Clark.”
“Good, great,” Clark bit his lip and stuffed his hands in his pockets as he didn’t have a clue what to do with them.
Lex decided to give him a break, “Would you like to go out with me, Clark?”
Clark beamed at him, “Yes, yes I would.”
“I’ll pick you up from school tomorrow then?” Lex asked, standing slowly.
Clark stood too and nodded, “That would be… perfect.” He sighed happily. If there was one thing he didn’t want, it was to ruin his friendship with Lex. Dating would be good start.
Lex smiled and closed the gap between them. He leaned up and placed a chaste kiss on Clark’s lips. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night, Clark.”
“Good night, Lex.”
Lex walked away slowly. Considering the way the night had started and progressed, things had turned out extremely well. He smiled to himself. He, Lex Luthor, was dating. He never dated, and he’d certainly never dated a sixteen year old… not even when he was sixteen.
Smallville was full of surprises, and Clark was definitely the best one.
