It was the jostling and the muffled curse that woke Clark.  “Lex?” 

“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you.”  Lex’s voice sounded strained. 

“What are you doing?” 

“Getting my cufflinks.” 

Clark blinked.  “Why’re you down there?  Aren’t there some on the dresser?” 

“I don’t want that pair.  I want the pair that rolled under here two days ago.” 

Uh-huh.  “Would you like me to lift the bed for you?” 

“No, it’s okay.  I think I’ve almost got the other one.”  A pause.  “I should talk to Gretta about vacuuming under here better.” 

Clark, trying to fall asleep again, just rolled his eyes.
