Clark Kent always had a penchant for the initials L.L.: first Lana Lang, then Lois Lane and finally Lex Luthor.  With Lana, I understood Clark’s attraction; she was the pretty unattainable girl next door.  Whilst Lois was ambitious and vivacious, however Lex was a coat of many colours.  

Watching home videos always has a way of making me nostalgic.  The time is five o’clock on a late Saturday afternoon; I am in my Metropolis apartment watching an old video tape of home movies, which Pete sent me in my first year of college. 

I smiled myself as I recalled the day this video was recorded.  It never occurred to me until years later that I was suffering from foolhardy.  Had I deduced this at an early stage I would have saved myself, and plenty of other girls, the heartache of pining after him.   

I returned to the action playing on the television screen.  Some idiot had let Pete run amok with a camcorder with the intention to capture everything in sight, that would have included a fly if it buzzed anywhere near him.  I was having a stressful day and having a camera in my face was the last thing I needed.  All I asked for after a gruelling day at school and the torch was to chill with a cup of coffee at the Talon while hanging with my friends. 

Lana was not making things easier by preening and posing in front of the camera.  You would have thought she had been endorsed to be in a commercial advertising the Talon. 

Clark was gazing at Lana with torn puppy dog eyes, when Lex glanced up at him from his laptop and nudged Clark on the shoulder with a grin.  This caused Clark to blush on screen and gaze at the floor, while Lex gave Clark a last flitting look and with a smirk on his face return to the laptop. 

“Wow! Lex gave Clark the Look,” I said to myself as I rewound the tape to view that shot again. 

Lex must have had feelings for Clark at the time the video was recorded, you couldn’t mistake the Look; it spoke volumes.  I was sure I didn’t notice the Look sooner because at that time I had a massive crush on Clark and it made me blind to anyone else who felt the same way about him apart from the object of his affections, Lana.  How very naďve I was in not realising that her true rival at the time was not Lana, but Lex.

2 Weeks later ~ Saturday June 30^th

“Ladies and Gentlemen, while I was looking through my home movies two weeks ago, I came across a tape made by the best man. My first view of this scene was that of a novice, basically I blinked and missed it.  However watching this video again after so long, it occurs to me that it was always glaring obvious that Lex Luthor had a thing for Clark Kent.  It was then I decided to raid my loft to look for every single home video I had involving Lex and Clark.   I now present to you the courtship of Luthor-Kent, Enjoy!” 

As the audience watched the mixed tape of Clexy moments, I grinned at the newly wedded Lex Luthor and Clark Kent, who raised a toast to salute me for my amazing speech.  Clark Kent has finally ended up with an L.L. that deserved his heart.
