"Hey Lex, is it okay to come in?" Clark asked as he poked his head in the doorway of Lex's office.

"Go away, Clark."

"Come on, Lex. I said I was sorry."

"Go away, Clark."

"Come on, Lex. I'm really, really sorry." Clark told Lex from the doorway as he gave Lex a small smile.

"GO AWAY, CLARK!" Lex said with more force.

"Lex......please listen to me. Don't send me away like this." Clark begged from the doorway.

"Clark......" Lex sighed with force patience.

"Come on, Lex. I promise I won't do it again. PLEASE let me come in." Clark looked at Lex with concern on his beautiful face.

"I told you last night to stay away from me. Didn't I?"

"Well, yeah."

"Then why are you here?"

"Please, Lex......Can I come in and talk to you?"

"NO!"

"Lex, please...please...please. Let me come in." Clark begged with tears in his eyes.

"I told you to stay away from me. I also told you to stay at least 1000 feet away from me or I would have you banned from the castle. Do I have to call my guards?" Lex was still very angry with the farmboy.

"Yeah, Lex. You told me, but I didn't believe you."

"Why is that, Clark?"

"I thought you would get over being angry and forgive me."

"Really, Clark. The size of your ego is incredible." Lex shook his head at Clark.

"Lex......please" Clark begged as he took a few steps in to the office.

"Clark, I'm warning you. Stay where you are." Lex said reaching for the phone.

"Let me come in and we can talk about it, PLEASE?" The farmboy was on the verge of tears as he tried to reason with his stubborn friend.

"I'm tired of talking. I don't want to talk anymore, Clark. I sick and tired of you playing with my emotions. You take alot for granted and I just don't want to deal with it anymore." Lex looked at Clark sadly.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I'm sorry? Please, Lex if I have to get on my hands and knee to get you to forgive me I'll do it." Clark said as he took a few more steps into the room.

"Clark! I told you to stay where you are."

"Lex.....I'm so sorry. Please! I was just.......I was .......It's just that I wanted to make love with you so bad and I thought that maybe this was the way to make you see......to make you change your mind." Clark was so upset tears where flowing from his beautiful green eyes.

"See what, Clark? For me to see that you got a big kick out of messing with my emotions. Disregarding my wishes.......Making fun of me." Lex was glaring at Clark with so much anger and resentment Clark was stunned.

"Lex, I wasn't making fun of you." Clark started crying in earnest after realizing how much he had hurt Lex.

"What part of my wanting to stay out of jail did you not understand, Clark? I have alot more at stake than you do. I would be in jail along time and you'd be free to go on with your life while I have to share a cell with Bubba."

"Bubba? Lex, please......Who's Bubba?"

"Never mind, Clark. Just go AWAY!" Lex looked at Clark with sad blue eyes

"Lex, I LOVE YOU!"

"I love you too, Clark, but I can't do this anymore."

"Do what?"

"You. I can't handle you anymore."

"You don't have to handle me, Lex. I just want to be with you. Let me LOVE you."

"Did you know, Clark, that heads of corporations fear me?"

"Lex......please."

"Even my father is afraid of me."

"Lex....."

"And I've been brought to my knees by a beautiful 16 year old farmboy."

"Let me come in and hold you......PLEASE!"

"A boy who thinks its funny to mess with my emotions."

"Lex, don't say that. It's not true."

"It's true, Clark." Lex looked like he want to cry. His eyes filling with tears.

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." Clark said wanting to move closer to Lex, but knowing it wasn't a good idea stayed where he was.

"I love you, Clark, but I can't be with someone who won't listen to me. Especially when I know what I'm doing is right. For the first time in my life I'm going to do something NOBLE." Lex looked away as he started to cry.

"Lex, don't do this. PLEASE!" Clark knew what was coming next and wanting to stop it moved closer to Lex.

"I don't want to see you anymore. Please go away now."

"LEX! NO!" Clark was crying hard now. Wiping at the tears with his the sleeve of his jacket.

"Don't make this any harder that it has to be." Lex looked at Clark tears in his eyes and as if his heart had broken into a million little pieces.

"Lex, don't do this. Please. I love you. I'll will alway love you!"

"I love you too, Clark, but this is the way it has to be."

"Why, Lex? Why does it have to be this way? Because you say so." A spark of anger from Clark as he tried to process what was happening.

"Yes, Clark, because I say so." Lex looked at Clark with sad tired eyes.

"NO! NO! I won't let it end this way." Clark moved closer to Lex wanting to hold him and make him change his mind.

"Clark, I said stay away from me." Lex knew Clark wanted to touch him and if he allowed it he would melt and his resolve would go with it.

"Lex, please I said I was sorry. Why can't you forgive me?"

"I already have, Clark."

"Then why are you throwing me away like this?" A horribly upset Clark asked.

"I'm not throwing you away. This is just the way it has to be."

"NO, NO. Don't say that." Clark struggle with the urge to go to Lex and hold him.

"Yes, it was never meant to be. I want to thank you, Clark for showing me that." Lex looked at Clark through the tears in his eyes.

"Lex, please let me hold you. I promise I won't do it again." Clark begged.

"No, Clark." a sad Lex told him.

"Lex, please don't make me beg."

"Clark, go away now. I don't want to see you anymore. I don't want to talk to you anymore. I'm telling my guards not to allow you into the castle. Please go away now." Lex turned his chair away from Clark so he couldn't see how heartbroken he had become.

"Lex, don't do this, please." Clark begged as he moved closer to Lex.

"Go AWAY!"

"I LOVE YOU!"

"Go away, please." Lex told Clark not turning his chair to face him.

As heartbroken Clark turned away and headed out of the castle he heard sobs coming from Lex's office Moving as fast as his superpowers took him he make his way to the only place he knew he could find comfort. The FARMHOUSE. The farmhouse where he knew his mother would be home. Martha Kent was sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of herbal tea and a magazine when Clark burst into the house. One look at his face and she knew there was something horribly wrong.

"Clark, what's wrong?" She rose up from her chair and went to him to put her arms around her crying son.

"Mom." He put his arms around her and cried his broken heart out.

"Clark, sweetie. Talk to me." She told him as she stroked his back.

"I can't, Mom. I can't." He said between sobs.

"Clark, honey. Did you have a fight with Lex?' Martha had see the looks that had passed between Clark and Lex and knew with a instinct that belong to Mothers around the world that her son was in love.

"Mom."

"Clark, I know how you feel about Lex. I'm not going to judge you. Talk to me. I want to help."

"I can't Mom. I don't want you to hate me." Clark said through his tears.

"Clark, sweetie. I could never hate you." Martha said as she lead her crying son to the couch. "Clark, you know my grandmother use to say that, A MOTHER SHAPES HER CHILD IN WAYS SHE DOESN'T REALIZE, SOMETIMES JUST BY LISTENING."
