Notes: This is my first time putting a fanfic that I wrote onto the internet, so I hope that everything goes good, and that everybody enjoys my story. There are some spoilers for ‘Blank.’
Summary: Sometimes, even love is forgotten.

The sound of Chloe’s retreating footsteps soon faded, leaving Clark alone with Lex.

Clark was really confused. What had she mean by ‘be careful’?

Chloe had told him that he and Lex were good friends. So why would he have to be careful of his friend? Was he one of those people he couldn’t tell?  Couldn’t trust?

“Clark?”

He turned back. “Mr. Lu…Lex. Sorry, I got lost in thought.”

“Did you remember anything?”

Clark was surprised to see a small flicker of hope appear in the cool blue eyes that stared up into his own eyes.

“No. Nothing yet.”

“Oh.” Lex sighed, looking disappointed. “I still find it hard to believe that you have amnesia. Do you remember anything?”

“Nothing. Everything before meeting Chloe in the alley behind the Talon is a blank. It’s all so confusing!”

“Scary?” Lex asked softly.

“I don’t want to sound like a wimp, but yeah. It’s a little scary. Actually very scary. Not knowing who I am. Who you are.” He gestured helplessly.

“Maybe…” Lex took a step closer, then paused looking unsure.

“What? Maybe what?”

Looking up into Clark's confused green eyes, Lex took another step closer. There were only a couple of inches separating their bodies.  “Maybe I can help you to remember…”

He reached up, slim, pale fingers gently brushing a stray lock of hair away from Clark's face.

“Me…”

His hand lowered enough to curve around the back of Clark’s neck.

“Us…”

Lex pulled the two of them closer, pressing their bodies together tightly. Clark’s eyes widened as Lex leaned up and pressed their mouths together in a kiss.

To shocked to do anything, Clark stood unmoving, letting Lex press deeper. Soft lips brushed against his own repeatedly, as Lex tried to draw him into the kiss. The shock wore off quickly when Lex’s lips parted, and his moist tongue caressed Clark’s mouth, trying to gain access to the hidden depths inside.

Jerking out of Lex’s grip, Clark used the sleeve of his shirt to scrub the feel of the other man off his mouth.

“What the hell was that about?” He started moving backwards to the door, intent on leaving.

“Clark, wait!” Lex reached, wanting to stop Clark before he left. Before Lex could touch the younger man thought, his wrist was caught in a vice-like grip.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” Clark yelled. “Chloe said you were my friend, yet you try to take advantage of me when I have amnesia?”

“You misunderstand. We…”

“Oh! I understand perfectly,” Clark interrupted.

“We’re together. Lovers.”

“Yeah right!” Clark sneered.

“Ow. Let go Clark.” Lex tried to get loose, using his free hand to pry off Clark’s tight and painful grip.

“Chloe told me that Lana Lang is the love of my life. She said nothing about the two of us being together. I felt something when I saw her. Nothing when I saw you. So don’t try to pull that shit with me.”

“Clark, you’re hurting me,” Lex whimpered. He fell to his knees as the vice grew tighter, the pain intensifying. He could feel the delicate bones in his wrist shifting under the pressure. Tears of pain began pouring down his pale face.

Clark continued, unaware of the pain he was causing his forgotten lover. “I’m going to leave now. Stay the hell away from me, you sick freak.”

Clark shoved the kneeling man away from him, turned and walked out of the study. The doors slammed closed loudly behind him.

The force of the shove sent Lex sliding backwards, only to stop when his body collided with one of the soling wood legs of his pool table.

“CLARK!” Lex cried in anguish.

Lex cradled his injured wrist to his chest, lying curled on the hardwood floor. Tears of pain, physical and emotional, continued to pour down his face.

“Clark.”

The school bell rang, signaling the end of both the day and the week. Clark, along with all the other students, began the mad scramble to get to lockers, and out of the school.

Soon, Clark was leaving the school grounds and making his way home. It was Friday, which meant it was produce delivery day. He was anxious to get the orders dropped off so that he had time to spend with Lex after.

Clark was hurt that Lex had not come to see him after he got his memory back. Chloe had told him that they had gone to talk to Lex, and that he had stayed with Lex after she left. Clark had no memory if the events that took place while he had amnesia, so he had no idea why Lex hadn’t come to see him.

“Hi Mom!” Clark called in greeting, stepping into the house.

“Afternoon Clark. How was your day at school?” She was taking muffins out of the oven.

“Ok. I’m going to stay at Lex’s for a while after I’m done dropping off orders. I don’t know when I’ll be home.”

“Ok, sweetie. Have a good time. Call if you’re going to be late.”

“’K.”

A peck on her cheek and one quickly nabbed muffin later, Clark was out the door, in the truck, and driving to his first stop.

After dropping the box of produce off in the kitchen, Clark made his way through the immense castle to Lex’s study. The French doors were open, so Clark simply went in, pulling them closed behind him.

Lex was on the other side of the room, gazing out the window. At the bang of the doors closing, he spun around to see who it was. “Clark?”

Not noticing the wary look on Lex’s face, Clark moved across the room. He reached out to Lex, stopping shot at the flinch his actions caused.

“Lex? Baby, what’s wrong?”

For a moment Lex didn’t answer. He simply stared, silently, into Clark's eyes.

“You got your memory back.” It was more of a statement of fact, then a question.

“Yup.” Clark grinned. “It’s all back, except I have no memory of anything that happened while I had amnesia.”

“Oh.”

Movement at the corner of his eye caught Clark’s attention. He glanced down in time to see a bandaged wrist disappear behind Lex’s back.

“Lex! What happened to your wrist?”

“It’s nothing. So! How did you get you’re memory back?”

“Don’t try changing the subject.” Clark reached out, gently taking Lex’s arm and tried to pull it back to the front.

“Just forget it Clark.” Lex tried to keep his arm behind him.

“Why though? You’re hurt Lex, and I want to know who hurt you.” Clark made sure not to use too much of his strength. He didn’t want to do further damage to the already injured wrist.

“It’s nothing.”

Lex tried to pull his arm out of Clarks grip, but the movement sent pain shooting up through his wrist. Lex stopped struggling, unable to prevent the pained cry from passing his lips.

“Oh, Lex.”  Clark gently cradled the injured appendage in his large, tanned hands. “My god Lex! What happened?”

The tenser bandage was wrapped from is hand, to mid forearm. Clark focused, x-raying through the bandages.

"Stop. It’s already been x-rayed.” Lex waved his left hand in front of Clark’s face. “The bones are jus bruised. It will be all healed in a couple of days.”

As Clark was focusing back to normal vision, the bones melting back to muscle and skin, Clark froze. Under the bandage was a large, dark bruise.  The bruise looked like a big hand had wrapped around the slim wrist and squeezed. Tightly.

The realization of exactly how Lex’s wrist was hurt slammed into him like a freight train.

“Oh God!” Clark whispered. There was no trace of color left in his face.

HE was the one who had hurt Lex.

It all fit, Lex’s absence the past couple of days; the flinch when Clark reached out to him; Lex hiding his injury.  Horror filled green eyes.  “I hurt you.”

Lex let out a small sigh upon hearing those three anguish filled words.  “It was not your fault, Clark. You didn’t remember how to control your strength. Don’t worry about it.”

“DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT!? How can I not? I hurt you?” Clark pulled back, wrapping his arms around himself.

“What could possibly have happened to make me hurt you?” Clark asked. He ached, realizing that the repeated lessons in control his strength had not become instinct. That even though he had, had amnesia he should have known how to control himself.

“I assure you, it was a mistake on my part. It was in no way your fault.” Lex moved to the mini bar, and got them each a bottle of water.

“What?”

Lex handed Clark one of the bottles. “I was overly confidant in my ability to make you remember me.”

“What do you mean?”

“I kissed you. You were not too thrilled about that. When I tried to stop you from leaving, and to explain about us, my wrist was hurt.”

Clark knew that Lex was leaving something out. Something important. He could tell by the way that Lex wouldn’t quite meet his eyes.  “What aren’t you telling me, Lex?”

“Nothing. That’s what happened.”

“Please Lex. I need to know.” Lex met Clark’s eyes.  “Please,” Clark whispered.

Lex sighed. “You accused me of trying to take advantage of you. That Lana was the ‘love of your life’. It’s nothing. I knew you didn’t mean it.” Lex looked down, trying and failing to open the bottle of water.

“Oh Lex.” Clark moved forward.  He pulled the bottle from Lex's unresisting grip, tossing it onto the nearby sofa. Clark then wrapped the smaller man in his arms, holding the slim body close to his own. “Of course I don’t mean that. I love you, Lex. Only you."

The tension left Lex’s body when he heard those words. He relaxed into Clarks strong arms, raising his own to return the embrace.

A few minutes later Clark pulled back enough to look into Lex’s eyes. “I love you.”

Lex smiled. “I know. I love you too.”

Bringing Lex’s injured wrist up, Clark pressed light kisses to each finger, moving along the wrist, and down the pale arm. “I’m sorry I hurt you.”

“I know. It’s ok.”

They embraced again. Lex rested his head on Clark’s chest; while Clark’s large hand cradled the fragile skull.

“How about we go upstairs?” Clark asked softly.

“No.” Lex looked up into disappointed eyes. He smiled. “We can do that anytime. Let’s go watch a movie.”  He paused, looking uncharacteristically vulnerable.  “Let’s just be together.”

“Ok.”

After pressing a gentle kiss to Lex’s lips, he took Lex’s hand.

The two of them walked down the hall, hand in hand.  Soon the two of them were curled together on the couch in the entertainment room. As they watched Lex’s advanced come o Alexander, they were content to just be together.

Let Me Go, by 3 Doors Down

One more kiss could be the best thing
But one more lie could be the worst
And all these thoughts are never resting
And you're not something I deserve

In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me

You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm tore between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go
Let me go

I dream ahead to what I hope for
And I turn my back on loving you
How can this love be a good thing
When I know what I'm goin' through

In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me

You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm tore between this life I lead and where I stand
You love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go
Just Let me goo...
Let me go

And no matter how hard I try
I can't escape these things inside I know
I knowww..
When all the pieces fall apart
You will be the only one who knows
Who knows

You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm tore between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know Who I am
So let me go
Just let me go

and you me but you don't
you love me but you don't
you love me but you don't know who I am
and you love me but you don't
you love me but you don't
you love me but you don't know me
